Offshore law firm specialist Carey Olsen has promoted Jersey-based lawyer Jeremy Garrood to the status of counsel, adding to its litigation team.
Garrood has worked in Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Channel Islands. He joined Carey Olsen in 2012 and represents a range of clients who require trust, insolvency and commercial litigation advice, while also specialising in complex cross-border company law cases.
As a litigator Jeremy has experience of complex corporate disputes. He is currently instructed by a global hospitality group in on-going cross-border franchise litigation, he is advising in a Jersey unfair prejudice dispute contesting ownership of a Caucasian gold mine and on a BVI derivative action relating to Norwegian oil-drilling technology, the firm said in a statement yesterday.
He also has strong insolvency and restructuring experience, particularly dealing with multi-jurisdictional insolvencies, asset recovery/tracing and receivership. He sits on the executive committee of the Association of Restructuring and Insolvency Experts and this year he has been a panel member at the INSOL International European Seminar.
Carey Olsen's litigation practice ranges across the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey, and is led by 12 partners.
