Northern Trust Hires Tax Strategist For PFS

Northern Trust has appointed Suzanne Shier as tax strategist for its personal financial services division.

In her new role, Shier will contribute to the discussion of issues surrounding federal tax - with a focus on charitable giving, trust law and tax legislation, the firm said in a statement.    

Previously, Shier was a partner at Chapman and Cutler, where she led the firm’s trusts and estates practice group.

In other news, the firm appointed Katherine Ellis Nixon as chief investment officer for its personal financial services arm in November

Robert Morgan was also hired as managing director of a new unit for alternative investment in October, joining the firm's hedge funds and private equity investment groups.

Northern Trust had assets under management of $644 billion, as of 30 September, with assets under custody of $4.2 trillion.
