North Carolina Firm Makes Senior Hire For West Coast Push

Charlotte, NC-based Capital Guardian, a boutique wealth management firm, has appointed C Michael Spivey as vice president of business development to lead the firm’s West Coast expansion.

Spivey will focus on growing the firm’s roster of independent advisors and supervisory jurisdiction offices. He has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.

A spokesperson told Family Wealth Report that the firm sees the West Coast as a “dynamic opportunity” in terms of tapping advisors looking for a concierge approach to serve their clients. Similarly, in a recent interview with this publication, Ed Orazem, president of Fidelity Family Office Services, said his firm is seeing a lot of wealth generation along the West Coast, which he added is home to some of the industry’s most “vibrant” advisors.

Spivey most recently served as Woodbury Financial Services' divisional vice president for the West Coast and vice president of new business development.
