Nikko AM Adds To Singapore-Based ESG Team

The firm has a total of $211 billion of assets under management, as of the end of September this year. Along with so many of its peers, it has made ESG/sustainable investing a theme.
Nikko
Asset Management has added three figures to its global ESG
team, based in Singapore.
The joiners – Sheela Veerappan, Bhaveer Shah and Alexandre
Tessier – report to Natalia Rajewska, global head of
sustainable development, the Japanese firm said in a statement
yesterday.
Veerappan, who is global ESG integration lead, has a background
of 15 years in sustainable investment. Prior to this role, she
was head of Australia and New Zealand and UN Principles for
Responsible Investment, and later senior sustainable investment
specialist for a global asset manager.
Shah, who is Nikko AM’s global environmental lead, was previously
vice president, applied climate and ESG investment research at
MSCI.
Tessier, an ESG regulations specialist, comes from a Europe-based
asset management house.
All three individuals are based at the firm’s sustainable
investment hub in Singapore, it said.
