A R Schmeidler & Co, the New York City investment management firm, has appointed Gregory Markel as a portfolio manager and research analyst.

Markel has 24 years of investment experience in New York and Massachusetts, having formerly served as a senior investment analyst at Iridian Asset Management.

He also previously worked at State Street Research & Management in Boston, MA, for eight years, where he co-managed the $2.5 billion SSRM Investment Trust. Before that, he spent seven years as a research analyst at Fidelity Investments.

A R Schmeidler & Co was founded in 1971 by Arnold R Schmeidler. The firm provides portfolio management services for high net worth individuals and institutional clients.
