New York Firm Makes Senior Brokerage Hires

Cantor Fitzgerald, the New York-based financial services firm, has appointed Bob Sherry and David Kim as chief operating officer for Prime Services and director of Prime Services Technology respectively.

Mr Sherry joins from the prime brokerage division of Furman Selz, and he has also held management roles within prime brokerage at ING and ABN Amro, along with having buy-side experience as president of Miller & Jacobs Capital.

Mr Kim, meanwhile, was latterly senior vice president of prime finance technology at Citigroup, a role which carried responsibility for management and oversight of all hedge fund technology services. Prio to joining Citi Mr Kim was responsible for the client web portal at Lehman Brothers.

“Additions to our management team are responsive to our customers’ request that Cantor build a prime service capability to help meet their needs, and reflective of the continuing expansion of Cantor’s global capital markets and investment banking business,” said Noel Kimmel, senior managing director and global head of Prime Services.

Cantor Fitzgerald has ambitious expansion plans for its fixed income, equity and investment banking businesses, and has made 125 hires since the start of this year, having hired nearly 100 sales and trading staff in 2008.
