The organisation provides wealth management in countries including the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India.

Sun Life Asia, part of the global Sun Life group, which provides wealth management among its offerings, has named Léo Grépin as its new president. He will take the helm after Claude Accum retires at the end of this year.

Grépin is responsible for Sun Life's “fastest growing business pillar” encompassing life, health and wealth management businesses in seven Asian markets – the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India – as well as the International high net worth business.

He was appointed president for the ASEAN region in April, responsible for Sun Life's businesses in the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia, and regional distribution and marketing. Grépin was previously senior vice president, individual insurance and wealth for Sun Life Canada, responsible for the creation and distribution of insurance, and wealth management products and solutions for the Individual business. Grépin was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company for 15 years. He holds a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from McGill University and a master of science in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

As of 30 June 2019, Sun Life had total assets under management of $1.025 trillion. The group trades on the Toronto, New York and Philippine stock exchanges.
