New Head For Investment Trust Business At RCM

RCM, the global asset management subsidiary of Allianz Global Investors, has hired Melissa Gallagher as director and head of investment trusts.

In her new role Gallagher will be based in RCM’s London office and will be responsible for board and investor relations as well as business development for RCM’s investment trusts.

Gallagher was most recently the head of investment trusts at Gartmore Investment Management, where she worked for ten years. Before that she was an account manager for institutional pensions funds at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (now BlackRock Asset Management).

“With RDR on the horizon, there should be an increased focus on investment trusts in the retail space in particular, and we believe we are in a strong position to leverage this opportunity,” said Gallagher.

Earlier this week, BlackRock named Simon White as head of investment trusts, recruiting him from RCM, where he had held the same role, overseeing the business management and development of Allianz’s closed-end funds range. In his new role White will be responsible for the business management and development of BlackRock’s range of investment trusts and the company secretariat in the UK.
