The National Bank of Abu Dhabi has appointed veteran banker Suvo Sarkar as the general manager of its consumer and elite banking division effective 1 June.

Sarkar joins from Emirates NBD, where he served as executive vice president and general manager of its retail banking business. His experience as a senior consumer banking professional covers more than 22 years across five major banks in both Asia and the Middle East.

He takes over from John Malouf, who will be retiring.

NBAD has been engaging in a series of key hires for its private banking division over the past months, the most recent being the appointment of Rudiger von Wedel as senior general manager of its global wealth unit.
