New CEO At German Asset Manager

Aberdeen Asset Management Deutschland, the German arm of London-listed Aberdeen Asset Management, has appointed a new chief executive for Germany, while also announcing the departure of two senior employees.

Dr Hartmut Leser, latterly member of the management and responsible for distribution, has been appointed German CEO and chairman of Aberdeen Deutschland.

He is taking over from Patrick Walker, the head of European business development at Aberdeen Asset Management. Mr Walker will now focus exclusively on his activities in London.

The firm said it was time to appoint a local chief executive, after completing the integration of the asset management and real estate business in Germany.

At the same time Aberdeen Deutschland announced that Bärbel Schomberg and Malcolm Morgan are leaving the firm for personal reasons. Both have been members of the management at the real estate asset management arm of the firm for more than six years.

Ms Schomberg will remain available as an advisor to the firm, Aberdeen said in a statement.

Aberdeen Asset Management Deutschland has about €8 billion ($11 billion) of assets under management. Its parent company, Aberdeen Asset Management, has about €160 billion of assets under management.
