California and Florida have more millionaire households than other states in the U.S., according to a year-old report by Phoenix Marketing International, a Rhinebeck, N.Y.-based research firm that specializes in affluent and high-net-worth markets.
Overall, Florida had six "Metropolitan Statistical Areas" with millionaire-to-general-population ratios that ranked among the top 25 in the U.S.; California had eight.
Following number-one ranked Los Alamos, N.M. -- with 9.7% of its residents falling into the million-in-investable-assets category -- the top-ranked cities were Naples-Marco Island, Fla. (8.6), Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, Conn. (7.2%), Vero Beach, Fla. (7.2%), and San Jose-Sunnyvale, Calif. (6.9%).
Besides Ohio and Florida, National City -- which shouldn't be confused with Beverly Hills, Calif.-based City National -- has banking branches in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and Pennsylvania. -FWR
