Morgan Stanley debuts new private-client website

Firm sees opportunities to improve client-broker relations with new portal. Morgan Stanley says an updated version of ClientServ, its private-client website, introduces flexible new ways for clients to manage accounts and holdings.

"A new client website is one of the important investments we are making in our business," according to James Gorman, president of Morgan Stanley's Global Wealth Management group. "With its improved features and clean new look, ClientServ will bring our clients added convenience and enhance the relationship they have with their financial advisors and Morgan Stanley."

"Global Wealth Management" is Morgan Stanley's hopped-up moniker for retail-brokerage.

Intended mainly for individual investors and small- and medium-sized businesses, the new-look ClientServ features a simpler design and interface and a consolidated information dashboard.

Clients can now lift data from their online account for tax and money-management purposes -- including downloads to personal financial software like Quicken and TurboTax. More changes are in the offing, all tending to build ClientServ into what Morgan Stanley calls "a more powerful online platform."
