Morgan Stanley has launched a new commodity trading advisor fund under its FundLogic Alternatives umbrella, the MS QTI UCITS Fund. The fund, the first in a series of four CTAs within a UCITS structure, has been launched in collaboration with Equinox Fund Management, a US-based multi-manager specialising in constructing multiple CTA portfolios.

CTAs are individuals or firms that advise others about buying and selling futures and/or futures options.

The MS QTI UCITS Fund offers access to a systematic strategy designed by New-York based CTA manager Quest Partners and aims to replicate the QTI Index.

“Our collaboration with Equinox ... allows us to expand our product range and offer strategies that are in high demand by the investor community.... CTAs have become a key asset class in portfolio construction given their diversification benefits and contrarian behaviour in adverse market environments,” said David Armstrong, managing director and global head of fund and fund-linked business at Morgan Stanley.
