More Change At The Top Of Schroders In Asia

The investment and wealth management house announces a raft of senior Asia appointments, including the arrival of a new CEO in the region.
Schroders, the investment and wealth management firm, announced another top-level Asian appointment today, saying that one of its senior figures in the region, Lieven Debruyne, has been appointed as Asia-Pacific chief executive.
Debruyne, who has been country head for Hong Kong, joins Schroders’ group management committee. He replaces Richard Mountford who has been in the CEO role since September 2012.
Chris Durack, meanwhile, becomes country head of Hong Kong. He also takes on the role of head of institutional business, Asia-Pacific, from Sydney-based Greg Cooper. Durack joined Schroders’ Sydney office in 2011 as the head of product and distribution and relocated to Hong Kong in February 2016 to take on the role of head of distribution.
In another change, Singapore-based Showbhik Kalra, head of product for Asia-Pacific, assumes added responsibility as head of intermediary business, Asia-Pacific; a role that was previously held by Debruyne.
Late last week, Schroders appointed a former Nomura top executive as country head for Japan. The UK-listed organisation named Shigesuke Kashiwagi to the post, taking effect from the start of July. At Nomura, Kashiwagi was executive managing director, chief financial officer since April 2013.
In February, Schroders appointed Chris Durack to the newly-formed role of head of distribution for Hong Kong. Durack has been with the UK-listed firm since 2011, working in the role of head of product and distribution in Australia. Before this, he was chief executive of Australian superannuation fund NSW State Super.
In March, Michael Dobson, the firm’s long-standing group CEO, stood down from the role, replaced by Peter Harrison, head of equities.
