Metrobank Philippines Strengthens China Branch Network

Metrobank, the Philippine bank, has opened a branch in the Changzhou National Hi-Tech District, expanding its coverage in the world's fastest growing economy.

The Changzhou branch is the first branch operating directly under the Metrobank (China) head office and focuses on small and medium sized businesses in east China's Jiangsu province. Target businesses are those with annual revenues of between RMB30 million and RMB300 million ($5 million and $50 million), which will be provided lower-threshold credit products in the RMB5 million to RMB10 million range.

The Changzhou National Hi-Tech District is located in the country's most economically developed area, generating at least RMB100 million annually.

Metrobank (China) has branches in Nanjing and Shanghai and a sub-branch in Shanghai's Pudong District. This year, the company plans to open a new office in Quanzhou, Fujian province and add more to the Yangtze River Delta area.

Metrobank Philippines, its parent firm, is one of the largest banking consortiums in South East Asia with more than 800 branches worldwide.
