Mellon appoints new head of Ohio wealth business

Former KeyCorp wealth and trust veteran William Caster answers the summons. Mellon Financial has put former KeyCorp Wealth Management executive William Caster at the head of its private-client business in Ohio. Based in Cleveland, he'll report to Mellon Private Wealth Management (PWM) executive v.p. Larry Hughes.

Caster will be in charge of Mellon PWM sales, portfolio management and private-banking service delivery in Ohio.

Keen focus

"Bill's deep familiarity with the market, combined with his leadership and strategic skills, will help us further extend Mellon's reach to high net worth individuals and families throughout this important region," says Hughes. "Bill brings a keen focus on clients, reflecting our own emphasis on service excellence and client satisfaction. We're delighted to welcome him to Mellon."

Caster was with KeyCorp for 18 years. In his last role there he was head of sales for the Cleveland-based regional bank's wealth management and trust businesses.

Earlier this month Carol Klimas, the former head of KeyCorp's wealth-management unit, left to become president of Lake Ridge Academy, a Cleveland-based private school.

UBS recently bought McDonald Investments, KeyCorp's retail brokerage business.

Mellon is scheduled to merge with the Bank of New York later this year. -FWR
