Mediobanca's Attributable Net Profit Rises In First Nine Months Of 2026

As reported earlier this year, Mediobanca is now under full control of another bank and is in the process of being delisted.
Mediobanca has
reported €1.09 billion ($1.10 billion) attributable net profit in
the first nine months of this year, rising 13.3 per cent on a
year earlier. Pre-tax profit, meanwhile, rose 8.6 per cent to
€1.98 billion.
Net operating income rose 11.4 per cent; operating costs dipped
0.5 per cent, the Milan-headquartered banking group said in a
statement yesterday.
The bank had a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 15.0 per cent on a
phased-in basis.
Wealth management profit fell 21.7 per cent to €164.9 million in
the nine-month period, affected by higher tax rate and
non-recurring charges of €28 million.
Assets under management and administration rose 4.6 per cent to
€88.8 billion. Total financial assets (TFAs) stood at €117
billion, holding steady. The cost/income ratio of this part of
the business narrowed to 66.2 per cent.
“The growth and contribution of all our divisions have been
positive. Corporate and investment banking posted record revenues
for the nine months; in consumer finance, business was again
buoyant and profitable, with new loans of almost €8 billion;
while wealth management reflected stability in revenues, TFAs and
distribution network, confirming the value of its business
model,” CEO and general manager Alessandro Melzi d’Eril
said.
In its outlook, Mediobanca said wealth management is “expected to
see the reduction in profitability decrease, with activities
gradually normalising, and despite the charges taken to retain
commercial staff and clients.”
As
reported earlier in 2026, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has
taken full control of Mediobanca and is de-listing it. The brand
identity will be preserved.
