Mattioli Woods Names CIO; Head Of Risk, Compliance

The Leicester-headquartered wealth management firm has created two new posts to help underpin the company’s growth strategy.

Mattioli Woods has internally promoted company director Simon Gibson to chief investment officer and hired Gareth Green, previously of C. Hoare & Co, as head of risk and compliance.

Gibson has 32 years’ experience in the financial services industry and, according to his LinkedIn profile, has been with Mattioli for just over two and a half years. He also spent nearly eight years as a fund manager with Atkinson Bolton Consulting. As CIO, he will continue to sit on the group investment committee and the wealth management board.

Green’s hire sees him take a step away from the private banking sector and C. Hoare & Co, where his LinkedIn profile states he was head of internal audit. He also held roles at Wesleyan Assurance Society, the Beneficial Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Barclays. In his new role, Green will be responsible for providing a regulatory and compliance service to support the firm's growth plans.

“These two key appointments underpin our culture to always ensure we protect our clients’ assets,” said Ian Mattioli, group chief executive.

The business reported a hike in earnings in September, as well as acquiring MC Trustees for £2.2 million ($2.7million).
