Matrix Coporate Capital Names New Deputy Chair, Hiring Spree Continues

Matrix Corporate Capital, part of London-based financial services group Matrix, has announced the appointment of Malcolm Le May as deputy chairman to spearhead the expansion of its full-service broking and advisory activities, along with a string of other hires.

Mr Le May’s career includes senior roles at Morley Fund Management, Barclays, UBS and ING; most recently he spent six years running the European and Russian operations of JER Partners, the real estate fund manager.

MCC also said it had recruited Matthew Jordan from Dresdner Kleinwort for the newly-created role of head of research. While at Dresdner Kleinwort, Mr Jordan’s most recent role was that of deputy head of global research, overseeing a team of nearly 100 equities analysts. Prior to joining Dresdner Kleinwort in 2007, he covered the drinks sector for seven years at ABN Amro.

In his new role, Mr Jordan’s remit includes making further hires for the research team in order to broaden its sector coverage and expand research into larger companies, MCC said in a statement.

In other hires, Norval Loftus and Mahmoud Sahyoni were recruited from Ansbacher & Co to build MCC’s convertible bond capability, while Steve Cox and Stephen Waterman join the firm’s pharmaceutical advisory team.

Messrs Cox and Waterman bring their Elixir Securities business to MCC and through this addition to the firm said it aims to enhance its offering as a full-service broker and nominated advisor to the biotech and healthcare sector.

MCC has doubled in size since November 2008, growing to a headcount of 55. Its parent, Matrix Group, has a staff of around 200 based in London’s West End.
