Marshall Islands Signs TIEAs With Nordic States

The Marshall Islands has signed tax information exchange agreements with the Nordic states of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, Tax-News reports.
The agreement between the Pacific state and the countries which comprise the Nordic Council was signed at the Finnish Embassy in Singapore in late September in order to bring the exchange of tax information in line with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's model agreement. It will provide Nordic countries with access to tax information relating to assets held by their territories' taxpayers in the Marshall Islands on request where there is evidence of the perpetration of tax evasion.
The Nordic states, which most recently signed TIEAs with Belize, have since 2007 entered into such agreements with a raft of jurisdictions in the Caribbean, the Pacific, the Channel Islands and Monaco amongst others.
The agreements with the Marshall Islands will enter into force after ratification procedures take place in all the territories concerned.
