Marianne Hay Leaves StanChart's Private Bank As It Restructures Business Regions

Standard Chartered Private Bank has implemented structural changes to the way it segregates business regions, and Marianne Hay, head of EMEA, is leaving the bank as part of the changes, WealthBriefing understands.

Meanwhile, Stephen Richards Evans, regional head, North East Asia, will become head of the West region – encompassing India, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas - and Rajesh Malkani, currently regional head, South East Asia, will become head of the East region - comprising South East and North East Asia.

Hay was hired by the private bank last May, to head up its EMEA business. Moving forward, she has decided to pursue opportunities outside of the bank, a spokesperson told this publication.

As part of the structural changes, Richards Evans will be relocated from Hong Kong to Dubai to take on his new role, while Malkani will remain based in Singapore.

“Our footprint in the world’s growth markets is our competitive strength and this new structure sharpens our focus as a private bank that is in and for Asia, Africa and the Middle East,” said Shayne Nelson, CEO and global head of SCPB.

Indeed, it is understood the UK-listed private bank will step up hiring over the next three years to capitalise on the growing ranks of wealthy investors in Singapore and other regional centres.
