Man Poaches Executive From Goldmans

Jonathan Sorrell will join Man Group from Goldman Sachs at the end of the month as head of strategy and corporate finance, the hedge fund manager has confirmed.

Sorrell will report directly to Peter Clarke, the chief executive, and be based in Riverbank House, London, the company’s new headquarters.

As part of the executive team, one of his tasks is understood to be seeking to improve Man’s presence in the US and Asia.

At Goldmans, Sorrell managed the Petershill fund, a private equity-style alternative investment fund which  specialized in buying up stakes in third-party hedge fund managers.

Man’s latest hire is the son of Sir Martin Sorrell, chief executive of WPP, the advertising group.

In the second quarter, Man Group reported $71 billion in assets under management, an increase of almost $2 billion from the previous quarter.
