Malaysian Bank Launches Premium Cards For The Rich

AmBank, Malaysia's fifth largest bank, has launched two premium cards aimed at high net worth individuals

AmBank World MasterCard and Shariah-compliant AmIslamic Bank World MasterCard are designed for Malaysia's growing high net worth population and are currently offered by invitation only, although individuals with an annual income of at least RM240,000 ($80,000) may get in touch with AmBank for evaluation. All new cardholders may also avail of the bank's priority banking services.

Highlights of the new products include generous travel perks, a club membership at Hilton Hotels, dining and other luxury privileges.

"According to MasterCard research, the size and spending power of affluent consumers in Asia will expand over the next decade, with the discretionary expenditure of affluent Malaysians expected to reach $10.07 billion in 2015. With this insight, we believe the launch the cards are positioned well to cater to the growing needs of these affluent consumers," said Jim Cheah, vice president and senior country manager, Malaysia and Brunei, for Mastercard Worldwide.
