Major European Banking Group Names New Asset Management Head

This publication brings the latest news of moves and appointments in the wealth management arena.
BNP Paribas has
appointed Frédéric Janbon as the new head of its asset management
arm, BNP Paribas Investment Partners, taking the helm from
Philippe Marchessaux who will support and advise him during a
transition period before taking on – at his request – another
role at the Paris-listed group.
Janbon has worked in a number of positions at BNP Paribas in the
interest rate, derivatives and options markets before his
appointment as global head of fixed income in 2005, a role he
held until the end of 2014.
Marchessaux was involved in steering the integration of asset
management teams from ABN AMRO AM, Fortis IM and BNP Paribas
Investment Partners to build the current business over the past
six years.
The asset management business, which operates worldwide, had a
total of €532 billion ($605 billion) of assets as at 30 June this
year. The French parent group reports third-quarter figures on 30
October, 2015.
In September, BNP Paribas IP made a flurry of new appointments
across its London and New York-based teams, including a new
investment chief for its institutional arm. It appointed Guy
Williams, who joined the business five years ago, as chief
investment officer of its institutional business. Williams
previously held the role of chief investment officer of BNPP IP’s
global fixed income affiliate, Fischer, Francis, Trees & Watts.
His latest role has been newly created.
Other additions to Williams' team included Daniel Morris as
senior investment strategist and Richard Barwell as senior
economist. Morris joined from TIAA-CREF Asset Management where he
was global investment strategist while Barwell previously served
as senior European economist within the markets and international
banking division of Royal Bank of Scotland, focusing on the
eurozone and European Central Bank policy.
