London Investment Boutique Recruits EM Specialists From Barings

JO Hambro Capital Management, the London-based boutique, has recruited fund managers James Syme and Paul Wimborne from Baring Asset Management ahead of a new emerging markets fund launch later this year.

While the firm is being somewhat tight-lipped on the details of the new fund, it has said that it will adopt a “distinctive core approach that differentiates it from the existing JOHCM Emerging Markets Fund", which was launched in April of last year and is managed by Emery Brewer and Dr Ivo Kovachev.

Syme had been head of Barings’ global emerging markets team since 2008; Wimborne had worked at Barings since 2006, most recently as an investment manager in the global emerging markets equity team.
