Lombard Odier Lures ING’s India CIO

Lombard Odier, the Swiss private bank, has hired the former chief investment officer of ING Investment Management’s Asia-Pacific business for a similar role.

Pranay Gupta starts as CIO of Asia and global head of investment solutions.

Based in Hong Kong, Gupta is responsible for building Lombard Odier’s investment capability in Asia and globally.

At the Dutch firm he oversaw the management of $85 billion of institutional, retail and insurance assets. He was also a member of the global investment leadership team which oversaw INGIM’s total asset base of $484 billion.

Before ING he was deputy CIO of Pearl Group and a senior member of the management team at ABP Investments, one of the largest plan sponsors in the world.

Gupta also held positions at Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking and JP Morgan Fleming Investment Management in Asia. He is co-founder of the Global Association of Alternative Investors, a non-profit investment think-tank of plan sponsors worldwide.

Gupta will report to Vincent Duhamel, a limited partner and head of Asia for Lombard Odier.

“In increasingly dynamic and complex Asian markets, Pranay will help us to ensure that we are adapting our global offering to meet the specific needs of Asian clients as well as those of our global and high net worth clients who are looking for the smartest opportunities,” said Duhamel.

Geneva-based Lombard Odier manages more than $160 billion on behalf of clients.
