Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Philip Grant, managing director of UK private banking, as chair of the group’s Scottish executive committee, succeeding Archie Kane, who is to retire.

Grant has also held roles at the Bank of Scotland and is currently president of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.

In his new role Grant will report to António Horta-Osório, the group chief executive. His responsibilities aside from the committee will include continuing in his role as head of UK private banking, in which he reports to Antonio Lorenzo, group director, responsible for the wealth and international division.

The Scottish executive committee was formed following the acquisition of HBOS by Lloyds TSB and consists of senior executives from across the group who are responsible for one of the firm’s major Scottish businesses or for a major area of the group’s activity with a base in Scotland.
