Lloyd's Underwriting Gains Ground With Private Investors

Private investors providing underwriting capital to Lloyd's insurance syndicates have boosted capacity by approximately £175 million over last year through Hampden Agencies, the largest members' agent in the market, according to the company. The increase takes Hampden's total estimated underwriting capacity for 2007 to nearly £2 billion, over 12 per cent of Lloyd's estimated capacity for 2007 of £16 billion. According to Hampden over 200 new Limited Liability Partnerships comprising 240 members are now on its books for 2007.
