Lights, Camera, Action! - UK's Future Capital Launches “Prime Time” EIS

Future Capital Partners, a UK-based alternative investment boutique, has launched a new Enterprise Investment Scheme which will invest in the creation and development of entertainment projects.

The Prime Time EIS will initially focus on television productions, but in may also widen its focus to films and games in time. In selecting (and overseeing) its investments, FCP will be using the experience of Mark Huffam, a seasoned media financier who has financed over 500 media projects since 1999, representing some $9 billion in investments. These projects include titles such as Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3, The Bourne Ultimatum and The Queen.

For its part, FCP has been part of the management team running a $450 million debt fund investing in specialist project finance since 2007.

The launch of the Prime Time fund follows hot on the heels of the launch earlier this week of the Atlantic Screen Scores EIS. Atlantic Screen Group is seeking from £2 million to a maximum of £4 million (about $6 million) to invest in film music.

Increasing numbers of high net worth investors in the UK are becoming interested in tax-efficient EIS and VCT vehicles. Investors can claim back up to 30 per cent relief against income tax on an investment on EIS investments to a maximum of £1 million per tax year.

Ingenious, Calculus Capital and Oxford Capital are just a few of the firms which have brought tax-efficient vehicles to market recently.
