The appointment also speaks to how Thailand's profile as a wealth management jurisdiction has risen considerably in recent years.
Liechtenstein-headquartered LGT has appointed Anchalee Bunsongsikul (main picture) as chief executive of LGT Securities (Thailand). The private bank said the move “underlines the strategic importance of Thailand for LGT.”
Ekkapob Makeguljai was previously the CEO of LGT’s Thailand
business, a spokesperson for the bank told
WealthBriefingAsia when asked.
With other European private banks operating in the country – such
as Julius Baer via its local joint
venture – Thailand has emerged as one of the
up-and-coming wealth management markets in Southeast
Asia.
Most recently, Bunsongsikul was president and CEO, Thailand and
representative offices for Standard Chartered.
“Thailand is an important market for us, one where we have built
a strong market position through a consistent, relationship-led
approach focused on serving Thai families and entrepreneurs,” Dr
Henri Leimer, CEO, LGT Private Banking Asia-Pacific, said in a
statement.
The appointment will take effect on 15 May. Upon joining LGT
Thailand, Bunsongsikul will join the executive board for
APAC at LGT Private Banking.
The European bank first opened a representative office in 1986
and opened its first wealth management business in Thailand in
2019. LGT has a presence in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand,
Japan, Australia, India and the Middle East, and employs around
1,800 people in the region. As at the end of 2025, it had
$164 billion in assets under management. Globally, LGT oversaw a
total of $487.3 billion in AuM at year-end 2025, with a total
payroll of 6,000 people across Europe, Asia, the Americas,
Australia and the Middle East.
Among recent developments in Thailand, WRISE, an Asia-based wealth
management platform,
announced in March that it had allied with Thailand’s IFCG
Public Company to give Thai investors access to global investment
and insurance solutions.
