Jupiter To Expand Funds Range With Japanese Offering
London-based asset manager Jupiter is to expand its Luxembourg range this summer with a Japanese fund to be managed by Simon Somerville.
Mr Somerville runs the UK-domiciled Jupiter Japan Income fund and is responsible for the Japanese elements of the Jupiter Global Managed and Jupiter Global Technology funds. The new fund, a Japanese growth fund, will not have a pure Japanese focus, a spokesperson told WealthBriefing.
Its wider remit will allow some assets to be invested outside the country and into the Asia region. The fund has yet to be approved by the UK regulator.
Mr Somerville is joint head of Jupiter's Far Eastern equity team, having joined from Cazenove in 2005. Further managers who can be accessed through Jupiter's Luxembourg-domiciled funds include Philip Gibbs, who manages Jupiter JGF Global Financials.
Jupiter had £16.6 billion ($23.8 billion) in assets under management at the end of 2008.
