Julius Baer has created a new markets unit and appointed Peter Gerlach, the former head of private banking for Switzerland at the bank, to head it. The Zurich-based bank said the move also sees the integration of its trading & sales unit into the bank’s asset management division and renamed the markets unit. “As a result of the strengthened wealth management focus at Julius Baer, trading & sales has been integrated into the asset management division and renamed the markets unit,” the bank said in a statement. The former head of the trading unit, Antoinette Hunziker-Ebneter, is to leave the bank. Mr Gerlach has been with Julius Baer for more than 20 years.
