JP Morgan Asset Management Recruits EM Debt Specialist From Polar

JP Morgan Asset Management has recruited Nima Tayebi from Polar Capital to take responsibility for its emerging market currency investment strategy.

In his new role Tayebi reports jointly to Pierre-Yves Bareau, head of emerging market debt, and Jonathon Griggs, head of FX strategy.

Tayebi was latterly a portfolio manager at Polar Capital, having previously been with Aberdeen Asset Management for close to a decade as an emerging market currency and debt portfolio manager.

JP Morgan Asset Management’s emerging markets debt team has grown significantly in recent times, with its assets under management having shot up from $7 billion to $17 billion in the past two years.

In other recent developments at the Wall Street giant’s asset management arm, last month saw JP Morgan Asset Management add 51 Threadneedle funds to its WealthManager+ platform, bringing the total number of third-party funds it offers to over 600. First launched in 2009, the platform carries funds from 26 providers.
