JP Morgan Asset Management Appoints Bonds Chief

JP Morgan Asset Management has appointed Pierre-Yves Bareau as head of emerging market debt, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Mr Bareau joins the company from Fortis Investments, where he worked as chief investment officer for emerging market debt for more than ten years.

In his new role Mr Bareau will be working alongside Bob Michele, global chief investment officer in fixed income.

"[Mr Bareau's] deep knowledge of the global markets, proven disciplined approach to evaluating opportunities and added focus on emerging market corporate debt will expand JP Morgan's reach and capabilities in identifying value in emerging markets," was Mr Michele reported to have said.

The appointment follows the departure of JPMorgan’s two long-time emerging-market managers, Jeffrey Grills and Gunter Heiland.
