Journalist Luminary Joins FF&P As Group Economic Advisor
Fleming Family & Partners has appointed a former editor-in-chief of the Economist magazine, Bill Emmott, as its group economic advisor, the multi-family office said yesterday.
Emmott held his Economist post between 1993 and 2006, a period encompassing the dotcom boom, the subsequent bust, 9/11 and the credit crunch. He is currently on the chairman’s advisory board of Swiss Re, on the Tokyo University President’s Council, and he is a trustee of the International Institute for Strategic Studies. Emmott is also chairman of the trustees of the London Library. He continues to write extensively, such as columns for the The Times (of London) and La Stampa, in Italy and has written about Japan, about Asia and emerging markets more generally; he has recently written a book about life in Italy after Berlusconi.
At FF&P, Emmott will provide macro-economic analysis as a contribution to the firm’s regular investment strategy reviews, as well providing additional commentary for client reporting and speaking at FF&P events.
