JOHCM Appoints New Investment Director

London-based boutique investment manager JO Hambro Capital Management has appointed Sandy Black as investment director.

Black joins the firm from Insight Investment, where he spent the last five years as head of equities; prior to working at Insight he was head of European equities at Deutsche Asset Management.

In his new role at JOHCM, Black is responsible for oversight of all investment strategies and the coordination of all operational, infrastructure and marketing issues on behalf of the firm’s fund managers. He takes over these responsibilities from Vicky Hastings, who will oversee the transition and continue to work with the firm for the foreseeable future.

So far this year the firm has already hired an emerging markets team comprised of fund managers Emery Brewer and Ivo St Kovachev to launch the JOHCM Global Emerging Markets Fund; it has also worked to expand its private client investment activity through the establishment of private client subsidiary James Hambro & Partners.
