Accountancy group UHY Hacker Young
has started the year in good stead with re-brandings, high-level
hires and an acquisition.
With a desire to expand its national presence, its Newport,
Letchworth and Royston offices ditched their local firm names to
rebrand as UHY Hacker Young as of 1 January.
New partners were appointed across England: Simon Browning,
previously featured on Tolley’s Tax Journal’s ’40 under 40’ tax
professionals, has been recruited as tax partner in Nottingham.
Matthew Hodgson takes the same role at the Manchester branch,
bringing with him his expertise in tax aspects of corporate
M&A and restructurings.
In London, Michael Avient has been made partner within the
private client services team. With a history of tax planning and
resolution of tax enquiries and investigations, this becomes one
of his many senior roles over his career.
Its Scottish firm Campbell Dallas looked internally for the
appointments of its new partners. Graham Alexander, Ian Craig and
Greig McKnight join the firm’s 15 other partners in the
boardroom.
McKnight’s experience with corporate clients within the firm will
be an asset as Campbell Dallas increases its activity in
corporate markets.
With a background in farming, Craig will strengthen the
partner-led rural affairs expertise in Perth, while Alexander
will put his 30 years of north-east market knowledge to use to
strengthen the firm’s Aberdeen office.
Campbell Dallas also acquired an Aberdeen-based tax consultancy.
The five-strong staff at Iain A Prentice all moved in the
takeover, bringing with them their international tax
experience.
