iShares Adds Standard Chartered As Dealer For China A-Share ETFs

iShares, the exchange traded fund arm of BlackRock, has added Standard Chartered to its network of dealers for its A-share ETF range.

The appointment brings the total number of participating dealers in iShares to 14. Standard Chartered will focus on the iShares FTSE A50 China Index EFT and the iShares CSI sector funds, both of which are synthetic ETFs. A synthetic ETF is an investment that copies the behavior of an ETF through the use of derivatives.

"Through ETFs investors are able to gain access to China's A-share market and Standard Chartered's participation is evidence of local investment demand for ETFs that access China through large-cap and sector specific funds," noted Jane Leung, head of iShares Asia-Pacific.

The iShares A50 is one of the most actively traded equities in Hong Kong, with some US$159 million of turnover a day.
