Investec Asset Management, part of UK and South Africa-listed Investec, has appointed Frans van Leeuwen as European client and business director.

Van Leeuwen joins Investec from Insight Investment where he served as a client director. Before this, he held similar positions at Threadneedle, Credit Agricole Asset Management and Merrill Lynch Investment Management.

In other recent developments, earlier in the month Investec said that international multi-family office Fleming Family & Partners, on behalf of its asset management clients, provided the seed capital for the launch of its Investec Africa Fixed Income Opportunities fund.

Investec Asset Management had over $105 billion, as at end-March 2013.
