Industry Heavyweight, Former MPC Member Joins UK Private Equity Firm

Electra Private Equity, a UK-listed firm, has appointed Kate Barker, former member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee and senior advisor to Credit Suisse, as a non-executive director, effective 1 November.
Barker served as a member of the MPC until May this year, when she stepped down after a three-term tenure. She was also chief economic advisor at the Confederation of British Industry, the lobby group for British businesses, from 1994 to 2001.
As well as her new role at Electra, Barker holds a number of positions including that of senior advisor in fixed income research at Credit Suisse, chairman of Anglia Ruskin University and member of the council of management of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research.
