iCapital And LGT Partner To Digitise Alternative Investment

New York-headquartered iCapital, a global fintech platform, has partnered with LGT, an international private banking and asset management group that has been controlled by the Liechtenstein Princely Family for over 90 years.
iCapital and LGT have launched a new technology platform tailored to digitise the lifecycle of LGT’s alternative investment offerings. The platform, integrated into LGT banking systems, provides relationship managers, investment advisors and the operations teams with an interface to manage the end-to-end alternative investment process – from marketing and a centralised document repository to client-specific reporting and analysis.
The platform was initially launched in Europe and has since been rolled out globally to improve operational efficiency, transparency, and client engagement across LGT’s global network.
Established in 2013, iCapital is one of the most prominent firms that widens access to alternatives – private equity and credit; venture capital, real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds. The desire for investors to have access to alternatives is frequently discussed; iCapital is part of the move to democratise this asset class for high net worth private investors. Other players in the space include CAIS, a US business, and Germany-headquartered Moonfare.
The need for wider access is gaining attention from policymakers, in Europe for example. More broadly, financial industry figures say that many private investors still don't have enough exposure to areas such as private equity, venture capital, and other non-public investment areas.
"Enhancing the relationship manager and client experience within the private markets asset class has always been a key strategic priority for LGT," said Christian Buchli, business area head group products and services management at LGT. "What began as an internal intrapreneurial initiative to digitalise the private markets value chain has now evolved into a globally deployed platform. The platform empowers our colleagues and clients with unparalleled insights into their private markets portfolios, setting a new standard for innovation and efficiency in this space."
iCapital offers a range of non-traditional investment products on iCapital Marketplace, Enterprise solutions – technology and data services, designed to help drive better outcomes for all participants in the ecosystem. It has over $918.5 billion of global volume activity on platform, including $232 billion in alternatives platform assets, $203 billion in SI and Annuities Outstandings, and $483 billion in Data Solutions Reporting Assets.
Headquartered in New York, iCapital operates globally with 16 offices, including hubs in Zurich, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and Toronto, and an R&D centre in Lisbon.
