HSBC AM's Investment Chief Retires

The CIO has been in the investment sector for four decades.

The chief investment officer of HSBC Asset Management, Chris Cheetham, is retiring from his post, bringing down the curtain on a four-decade investment sector career.

Cheetham joined HSBC Global Asset Management in 2003. Apart from his duties at HSBC, he serves as a trustee of the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme and in April 2018 became a non-executive director of The Pension Protection Fund.

HSBC will announce his successor in due course, it said in a statement last Friday.

“We wish Chris all the best for his well-deserved retirement and would like to thank him for his significant contributions to the business. Chris has led the creation of a global investment platform, the expansion into new asset classes and the nurturing of a strong investment team, all of which has helped us deliver a high standard of service to our clients globally,” Sridhar Chandrasekharan, Global CEO of HSBC Global Asset Management, said.

“Chris will remain with us while we undertake a search for his successor and complete a smooth transition of responsibilities,” he added.
