HSBC has appointed Phelim Bolger as head of UK sales at its alternative investments division.

In his new London-based role he reports to Florence Picon, head of sales and marketing at HSBC Alternative Investments, and will be responsible for growing the business and looking after its UK clients.

Bolger joined the firm from Union Bancaire Privée, where he was an executive director and head of UK institutional business, responsible for the sales and marketing of UBP’s alternative and traditional funds to institutions, distributors and consultants. His prior career also includes a position in the alternative investment sphere at JP Morgan Asset Management.

The appointment marks a further expansion of the team, after HSBC hired Amy McNally from Barclays Wealth as global marketing manager of the division back in September.
