Hedge Fund Firm GLG Hires Investment Strategy Head From Pimco

GLG Partners, the New York-listed hedge fund, said it has appointed Jamil Baz to the post of chief investment strategist, joining from US bond fund manager Pimco, where he was a portfolio manager.

In his new role, where he will be based in London, Mr Baz will work with Driss Ben-Brahim on developing the firm's global macro platform and thematic funds.

Before his work at Pimco, Mr Baz was at Goldman Sachs where he was a managing director in the proprietary trading group.  Prior to Goldman Sachs, Jamil was chief investment strategist at Deutsche Bank.

Pierre Lagrange, co-founder of GLG commented, “We are delighted that Jamil has agreed to join GLG.  He is one of the most respected investment strategists in the market today and he brings to GLG the experience and wisdom gained in over 20 years in the investment business.  We very much look forward to working with him as we continue to grow our global investment franchise.”
