Parisian independent fund manager Mandarine Gestion has picked Harrington Cooper to manage the distribution of one of its funds to UK investors, the firm revealed yesterday.
The Mandarine Unique - Small & Mid Caps Europe Fund invests in firms with “unique business models and considerable market share in niche markets”, the firm said in a statement.
According to Mandarine Gestion the fund is less volatile than the overall market due to investing companies with strong pricing power.
Managed by Diane Bruno, Marie-Jeanne Missoffe and Marie Guigou, the fund has a five-star rating from Morningstar and holds €265 million ($327.7 million) in assets under management.
The firm is looking to expand its investor-base in the UK, after success with clients of family offices as well as segregated accounts for UK wholesale investors.
In the fund’s four years of operation it has generated a +99.23 per cent return, outperforming the Stoxx Small 200 DR benchmark index of +56.05 per cent.
“We expect to see strong interest from fund selectors who have been consistently telling us that there is a dearth of truly excellent European small cap managers available in the UK market,” said Harry Dickinson, managing partner of UK-based fund distribution firm Harrington Cooper.
