Guernsey Says Aircraft Registry Goes Live

Guernsey has announced that its aircraft registry has gone live, saying it is the first such facility to have been set up in the Channel Islands as such jurisdictions continue to expand service offerings and compete with one another.
The registry can be accessed online – at www.2-reg.com
“Guernsey has many fiduciary services providers with high net worth clients who own aircraft and now they can take advantage of the modern legislation offered by our aircraft registry. Indeed, it is expected to be particularly attractive to clients from emerging markets such as the Middle East, Russia and Asia where personal luxury aircraft ownership is very popular and it may encourage them to consider using Guernsey for their wider wealth management needs,” Fiona Le Poidevin, chief executive of Guernsey Finance, the promotional agency for the island’s financial sector, said in a statement yesterday.
The 2-REG service, the statement said, is “particularly attractive to owners, operators and asset managers of business aircraft, as well as aircraft lessors”. The registry is open to aircraft not currently used for commercial air transport.
Other jurisdictions, such as San Marino, Malta and the Isle of Man operate aircraft registries.
