Singapore comes top in a global list for searches on the term “wealth management” according to Google Trends, a new analytical tool by Google. Hong Kong and Mumbai are second and third, with New York in fifth place and Sydney in ninth. No European centre was recorded in the top ten, although Geneva was top of the list for the phrase “private banking” followed by Mumbai and Bangalore, Luxembourg, Singapore and Hong Kong. Google Trends analyses a portion of Google web searches to compute how many searches have been requested for specific search terms relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time. It also showed that the top wealth management stories over the last two years were the Fortis acquisition of Dryden Wealth management and UBS 3rd quarter results being well ahead of forecasts. Both stories were published in 2005.
