Goldman Sachs AM Launches Alternatives Mutual Fund

Goldman Sachs Asset Management is launching a multi-manager fund offering access to a range of alternative strategies within a mutual fund.

The Goldman Sachs Multi-Manager Alternatives Fund will invest in long-short equity, dynamic equity, event-driven and credit, relative value, tactical-trading, and opportunistic fixed income strategies.

Co-managing the fund are Jason Gottlieb and Ryan Roderick, who sit within GSAM’s alternative investments and manager selection group, which manages around $120 billion of client assets.

The firm believes the complex markets of today mean investors, even those who have usually confined themselves to long-only equity and bond strategies, need greater diversification.

“We look forward to extending the capabilities of our large team and our experience in manager selection, portfolio construction and risk management to the daily liquid alternatives market,” said  Roderick. “We believe our dedicated alternatives expertise, combined with GSAM’s established mutual fund business, will provide a differentiated solution for our investors.”

Minimum investment for the fund is $1,000 for the A and C class shares, with institutional share classes also available.
