Global Founders Capital Backs Fintech Start-up

The venture capital arm of Rocket Internet is boosting its financial technology portfolio with its latest investment.

Venture fund Global Founders Capital is to invest in London and Berlin-based BrickVest, an online real estate fund management platform.

BrickVest, founded by Emmanuel Lumineau, Thomas Schneider and Adalbert Wysocki, will provide online access to Pan-European and North American real estate investments.

The investment, details of which were not disclosed, precedes the platform's launch later this year and comes as part of a growing trench of fintech businesses attracting venture capital. Global fintech venture investments more than tripled from $4.05 billion in 2013 to $12.2 billion last year, according to Accenture.

“We’re always looking for strong teams which work well with us and grow a start-up into a successful business – especially in a growing field like fintech,” said founder and chief executive of Rocket Internet, Oliver Samwer.

“We were very impressed by the founding team and its extensive experience in real estate, investment services and technology. BrickVest not only merges of all of this experience, but it does so in a way that can cause a paradigm shift to how real-estate investment takes place across the globe.”

Global Founders Capital has previously invested in Facebook, Linkedin and Trivago.
