Glasgow Expansion Continues Apace At Barclays Wealth

Barclays Wealth has further bolstered its private banking team in Glasgow with a trio of hires, continuing a recruitment drive which saw Gordon Scott, former head of wealth management at Kleinwort Benson, installed as director of the office at the end of last month.
The first two new joiners are private bankers Kenneth O’Donnell and Iain McMeechan, who have been appointed internally from Barclays Stockbrokers via the “Future Bankers Scheme”. Both now report to Calum Brewster, director, UK & Ireland private bank, Scotland.
The third new private banker is Gair Brisbane, who has come aboard via Barclays Wealth’s “Embark” programme, which is a recruitment scheme which fast-tracks candidates from other industries – even those unrelated to financial services. Gair previously served as a Royal Air Force Intelligence Officer for six years before working for the Royal Air Forces Association as director of Scotland and Northern Ireland for three years. His new role focuses on the development of Barclays Wealth’s proposition for Scottish charities. He will work alongside Diane Wilde, head of charities for the region, and report to Henry Peterkin, senior private banker in Glasgow.
Barclays Wealth’s expansion in Scotland has been marked in recent years, and the firm now employs 2,400 staff in the country. Glasgow is also the site of the group’s shared services hub.
